Art in New York, Memorial Day, Monday, 26 May 2014

There are no special art events scheduled for the last Monday in May, but many of the major museums are open, including the Metropolitan, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim. Those institutions that do no have regular Monday viewing hours are not open. The annual Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit ends its Memorial Day weekend run today, with viewing on the sidewalks along University Place from East Thirteenth St down to Washington Square and around the park.

For those in Brooklyn, the 147th Annual Kings County Memorial Day Parade occurs from 11 am, beginning on Third Ave at 87th St, proceeding east on 89th St and then south along Fourth Ave to John Paul Jones Park. There will be a Memorial Ceremony in the park, next to the entrance to Fort Hamilton, at the conclusion of the parade.
